Your First Benefits Day
Learn the terms, check a real situation, model the match, and leave with questions for HR.
The missing shelf in every home
A free library for life's money moments, from a first paycheck and benefits day to kids' accounts, insurance, trusts, and retirement.
Free, full stopNo bank link requiredEducation, never advice
Learn the terms, check a real situation, model the match, and leave with questions for HR.
The building: every life stage, with what’s on the shelf marked honestly.
The shelves of life
The first-job aisle is the front door, not the whole building. Academy is growing toward every season: individual, parent, and retiree.
Walk through the match, health-plan language, and the plan-specific questions worth carrying to HR before enrollment closes.
Turn “I should save” into a first layer of breathing room, with a plan that can survive an ordinary month.
Starter rungs that turn a car repair or paycheck gap into an inconvenience—without jumping straight to six months of freeze.
Read the pay stub, understand where the deductions went, learn what opens a bank account, and know how checks work when one lands in your hand.
Custodial Roth IRAs, Trump Accounts, earned-income rules, ownership, and the questions that change by account type.
Premiums, deductibles, coverage, beneficiaries, and what each kind of policy is actually trying to protect.
What a trust can do, what it cannot, the roles inside one, and when a qualified professional belongs in the room.
Income sources, timing questions, healthcare, and the difference between a projection and the life it needs to support.
The learning rhythm
A useful session can fit into the evening you actually have. The same four-part rhythm carries from a first paycheck all the way to retirement.
Plain-English microlessons teach one useful idea at a time without burying it in a course.
About one minute per teach blockReal-situation checks ask whether you can spot the mechanics when the wording changes.
Understanding, not triviaDeterministic simulators let you move an assumption and watch the dollars, time, or tradeoff move with it.
Math that shows its workLeave with your plan, the questions to verify, and a 30-day check-in to compare the model with reality.
No diploma. A useful next step. The useful finish line
Academy does not hand you a winner. It keeps the assumptions, open questions, and next action together—then invites you back in 30 days to see what reality taught you.

Money helps you run your finances. Academy helps you understand them. Each stands on its own; together, they carry the same mission into different parts of life.
Learn the mechanics, rehearse the moment, and carry better questions into real life.
See the system around today, plan the week, and run the work of your money.
Built in Sparta, Tennessee
Canopy is being built by Austin Lannom, a solo founder and father of three. The idea came from a simple gap: people meet financial decisions in every season of life, but the patient, practical teaching often never arrives.
Academy is meant to fill that gap—from the mechanics of a check to the purpose of a trust, from individual to parent to retiree. It does not pretend education can choose for you. It helps you understand the moment, see the tradeoffs, and ask a better next question.
Austin Lannom · Founder, Canopy Financial LLCA few good questions
The short version: it is free on purpose, it teaches without choosing for you, and it is honest about what is not on the shelf yet.
Because free is the point. Lessons are pure teaching content, and simulator math runs on your device. There is no AI running up a meter and no metered API behind each lesson, so the free experience costs Canopy about zero per person. Academy is both a gift and an introduction: if it earns your trust, we hope you will consider Canopy Money when you are ready for help running your finances.
No. Academy is education and modeling. It can explain mechanics, show what follows from the assumptions you enter, and surface useful questions. It does not recommend an election, investment, policy, product, or legal structure. Plan rules and personal situations vary; use an appropriate qualified professional when the decision calls for one.
No—and the library will not pretend otherwise. Your First Benefits Day, Your First $500, and the Emergency Buffer are on the shelf now. First paycheck, kids' money, insurance, trusts, and retirement readiness are being written. Every guide is labeled “On the shelf now” or “Being written” so ambition never masquerades as inventory.
No. Academy works with examples and values you choose to type. A bank connection is not required to learn, quiz, rehearse, or make a plan.
No. The free product uses authored teaching content, deterministic math, and Canopy's own grading rules. That keeps the experience consistent, explainable, private by design, and inexpensive enough to remain free.
Anyone who was never taught how money actually works—regardless of education, income, or life stage. Academy starts with adults facing a first paycheck or benefits deadline because that moment is urgent and easy to find. The building is for individuals, parents, and retirees.
